Bimbilla Bye-Elections Scheduled For March 16

Bye-elections for the vacant Bimbilla parliamentary seat will be held on March 16. The Electoral Commission has invited the filing of nominations by candidates wishing to contest the seat, recently relinquished by the NDC’s Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambas, who stepped down to take up his appointment as Executive Secretary of the Economic Community of West African States.

Candidates have been asked to file their nomination papers with the District Electoral Officer of Bimbilla next week Wednesday and Thursday.

Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission in Charge of Operations, Sarfo Kantanka said in a statement that the Commission was last Friday informed about the vacancy created in Parliament by Dr Chambas’ departure.
