Two police officers die in motor accident

Two police personnel who were part of a team that patrols the Cape Coast/ Elmina highway died in a fatal accident last night (Monday) when their vehicle collided with a Toyota Land cruiser at Abakam, a community near the University of Cape Coast.

The bodies of the two, Constable Philomena Kumah, 20 and Inspector Richard Gyimah 50, have been deposited at the Central Regional Hospital.

A third occupant of the police vehicle, Constable Dominic Amankwah, 22, who the police said had multiple head injuries had been referred to the 37th Military Hospital.

The Deputy Central Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Johnson Owusu Agyemang, told the GNA that the accident happened last night.

He praised the National Ambulance Services in Cape Coast for its swift response to its distress call and for the yeoman’s work in conveying the bodies and the injured to the hospital. **
