Gomoa Akyempim bans noise-making in honour of the late President Mills

Holding of funerals, weddings, festivals and entertainments have been banned from 07 to 14 August in Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area in honour of late President John Atta Mills.

Announcing the ban at the celebration of one week of the late President’s death, Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II, Paramount Chief of the Traditional Area, described the late President as an illustrious son of Ghana who must be given a befitting funeral.

He cautioned people of the area to strictly observe the ban and anyone who defied the ban would be sanctioned.

Mr. Francis Kojo Arthur, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, urged Ghanaians to let President Mills’s death unite the country.

At a similar function at Saltpond, Mr. Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, Member of Parliament for Mfantseman West and Deputy Central Regional Minister, appealed to Ghanaians to appreciate the good work of their leaders while they are alive.

Mr. Henry Kweku Hayfron, Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive, said late President Mills was a man of peace and urged Ghanaians to ensure peace in the country before, during and after the up-coming elections.

At a similar ceremony at Mankessim, Henry Kweku Hayfron, the MCE, appealed to Ghanaians to do clean politics in order to attract decent and noble men and women to lead the country.

Mr. Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, Deputy Central Regional Minister said the government would continue with the development programmes of the late President and appealed to Ghanaians to ensure peace after his death.**
