Vigil In The Us In Honor Of Mills

The City of Worcester, Massachusetts in the United States in collaboration with the Ghanaian Community in Worcester and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will keep a vigil in honor of the late president of the Republic of Ghana Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills.

The date and time for the vigil is Saturday August 4, 2012 between 8:00pm and 9:30pm. And the venue is the Worcester Commons Gardens at the back of the City Hall. All Ghanaians, and for that matter all Africans, their friends, and friends of Ghana are cordially invited to attend. Admission is free.

It is worthy to recall that in 2007 the then presidential candidate Mills visited Worcester as part of his official campaign trip to the US and was awarded the ceremonial keys to the city of Worcester by Mayor Constantino Lukes during a colorful ceremony. He subsequently went on to win his country’s presidential elections in 2008 and was sworn in as the executive president of the Republic of Ghana on January 3, 2009. He died on Tuesday July 24, 2012 at the age of 68 years at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, Ghana.
