Gov’t Apologises To Former Vice President

The National Security Adviser, Joshua Hamidu has apologised to former Vice President Professor Atta Mills and his wife for the manner in which, officials of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) seized some vehicles from their residence. The BNI had explained that the vehicles were ceased because they used security number plates but Professor Mills who believes the action was to discredit him has demanded an investigation from the government.

A statement signed by deputy government spokesperson, Kwabena Agyapong says all personnel who took part in the seizure of the vehicles have been suspended pending further investigations.

Without specifically saying who or what was responsible for the apparent security embarrassment, the statement from the castle said there’s clear evidence to suggests that a network in the security service is being used to discredit the government. It said the network releases information on impending operations, deliberately messes up and leaks information to the media to cause disaffection for the government.

The statement said a search is underway to expel security personnel who continue to work against the interest of the state. The apology from the security to adviser follows an earlier one from the Interior Ministry.
