Education has no substitute – Educationist

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Junior High School would work assiduously to maintain the good academic standards set over the years, Mrs Mary S. Kyere, the Headmistress, has said.

The School, she said, had since its establishment been committed to delivering the best of basic education and this had helped to instil discipline, the fear of God and respect for authority amongst the students.

“We have been careful not to compromise on the high standards we have set for ourselves and this is the reason why we continue to churn out products who could be found in all fields of academic endeavours as they spearhead the nation’s development,” she said.

Mrs Kyere told the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi that, education had no substitute and as such it was necessary that stakeholders played key roles to advance the human resource development of the nation.

She said the School intends to award deserving students, staff and other personalities whose contributions had led to the school’s progress, adding that, the event would coincide with the 15th Speech and Prize-Giving/Graduation Day of the academic facility.

The programme has as its theme “Parental Commitment – a Key Component in Nation Building.”

Mrs Kyere decried the manner in which some parents compromised on their educational responsibilities to the detriment of the development of their wards.

The Headmistress said issues such as marriage breakdowns and misunderstanding and material gains should not in any way prevent parents from investing in the education of their children.

This she said is the only way Ghanaian children could be equipped with the relevant skills to brighten their chances in future.**
