NPP Campaign Slogan Revealed

“Change Now! Move Ghana Forward”, the New Statesman can exclusively reveal, will be the campaign slogan of the New Patriotic Party ahead of the December presidential and parliamentary elections.

A source at the party headquarters, who disclosed this to the New Statesman, stated that the slogan chosen by the party is relevant to the times Ghana finds itself under the Mills-Mahama NDC administration, adding that “it is only by changing this non-performing administration that Ghana can move forward and as a result build of a society of opportunities for all Ghanaians.”

The source further explained that every President, according to the constitution, is given a four year term and is only guaranteed a second four year term based only on performance in the first term.

However, it was clear that President Mills in his first term has failed Ghanaians, with members of his own party deeming him to have failed woefully as was evidenced with him being the first President to be challenged in his first term in office by a member of his own party.

Explaining why Ghanaians must change the NDC now, the source explained that: “It’s been 4 wasted years under President Mills with as depicted by his behaviour, weak leadership and his under-performance. He has been the worst performing constitutional President Ghana has had despite having more money than any other President in Ghana’s history.”

In “Moving Ghana Forward”, the source explained that the NPP’s focus will be on enhancing the quality of life of the Ghanaian with the party’s key messages focusing on the creation of jobs, provision of free quality education and healthcare.

Focusing on the economy, the source explained that structure of Ghana’s economy has to change as raw material producing economies do not create prosperity for the masses.

“The way to that goal, the goal of ensuring access to prosperity, is value addition activities in a transformed and a diversified modern economy. In other words, the industrial development of our economy,” the source added.

In addition to the transformation of the economy, the NPP believes that providing access to free quality education is key, the source said. It is for this reason, therefore, that the flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo has stated that the first exit point for every Ghanaian child under his administration will be senior high school.

Other variations of the slogan, according to the source, will be “Nana and Bawumia, Your Team to Move Ghana Forward”, and “Change Now, Let’s Move Ghana Forward Together.”

In throwing more light on these variations, the source explained that the NPP showed in its 8 years of being in power a record of care and achievement as evidenced in the policies initiated by a mix breed of young, experienced and dynamic appointees under the leadership of President John Agyekum Kufuor.

“Thus in Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr Mamahudu Bawumia, Ghana will be afforded leadership that is visionary, experienced and dynamic; a leadership that will deliver its promises”, the source added.
