We need peace in Sunyani – Nana Nkrawri II

Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawri II, Paramount Chief of Sunyani, has appealed to residents of the Sunyani Municipality to promote and sustain the peaceful atmosphere in the area as the 2012 general elections approached.

He said the peaceful atmosphere chalked by Sunyani had over the year’s lured governments, event organizers, investors, non-governmental organizations and political parties into the town for various activities which had brought about tremendous increase in its socio-economic and infrastructural development.

“We should be motivated to improve on it and not to relent on our oars to maintain such an honour and enviable record we have achieved” he said.

Nana Nkrawri was speaking at a concert in Sunyani as part of a two-day programme dubbed “Suncity-Fest” organised by MTN, a telecommunication network operator to promote in the country.

He said since the population of Sunyani was gradually increasing with people from different backgrounds trooping in for settlement, “it is incumbent on all and sundry to exhibit tolerance, cleanliness, selflessness, unity, hospitability among other attitudes, for them to emulate to help in the sustainability of the record we have set”.

Nana Bosoma also appealed to inhabitants to eschew lawlessness, immoral acts as well as littering gutters; saying, that could lead to an outbreak of diseases in the Municipality.

He congratulated MTN for organizing such an event which was preceded by health screening and encouraged the company to accompany the subsequent ones with some symbolic projects like the construction of a school block or the construction an ICT centre for the benefit of the people in the Municipality.**
