Two soldiers held for the death of Mobilla to file submission of no case by July 16

An Accra Fast Track High Court trying two soldiers for the death of Alhaji Issah Mobilla, former Northern Regional Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has asked the defence to file their submission of no case by July 16.

However, it adjourned the matter to July 18.

When the case was called, the court recounted its difficulty in producing all the proceedings, saying they had been moved on to a new system hence it was finding it difficult to get all the proceedings.

However, Nana Sekyiwaa, who held the brief of Mr. Thaddeus Sory, counsel for the accused persons, said they had some of the proceedings and would therefore go ahead to file their submission of no case.

The court presided over by Mr. Justice Mustapha Habib Logo, obliged the defence request.

The accused persons Corporal Yaw Appiah and Private Eric Modzaka, have been charged with conspiracy to murder and murdering Mobilla on December 9, 2004.

They have pleaded not guilty and remanded into prison custody.**
