TIDD ladies club embark on afforestation project

The ladies club of the Timber Industry Development Division (TIDD) of the Forestry Commission (FC), has embarked on afforestation project at the Diabene Secondary Technical School near Takoradi.

Mrs Cynthia Buabin, President of the Club announced on Monday to the press when members of the club planted grafted mango seedlings on the project site.

She said so far, the club had planted acasia tree species on 15-acre land in conjunction with the agriculture students of the school.

Mrs Buabin said the grafted mango seedlings were being planted on additional land released by the school.

She said the club set aside the July 1, for awareness creation on tree planting to protect the environment and sustain the country’s forest.

Mrs Buabin said the students of the school were involved in the project to arouse their interest in tree planting and protection of forest resources.

Later, members of the Association planted 200 Milicia seedlings at the Anaji Community Park.**
