Thirty-nine communities in Sissala West District to get electricity in two months

All 39 remaining communities in the Sissala West District that are without electricity will be hooked to the national electricity grid in the next two months under the government’s Rural Electrification Project.

Mr. Moses Dramani Luri, the Sissala West District Chief Executive told the GNA in an interview that the Chinese contractor who is to execute the project had arrived in the district to start wiring the communities.

He said the contractor assured him that wiring of the 39 communities would be completed within two months.

Mr. Luri said the Assembly was also working around the clock to ensure that all schools in the district were connected to electricity to facilitate the teaching and learning of ICT.

He said the Assembly was also giving the Gwollu Community Information Center a facelift after connecting that of Jeffisi to the national grid at the weekend.

Mr. Luri said a similar facility, including a post office, would soon be built at Fielmua to enable the people have access to the internet and other ICT services without traveling long distances.

He said a befitting structure was being constructed by the Assembly to house the tomb of late President Hilla Limann.

Touching on the Ghana School Feeding Programme, Mr. Luri the DCE, said 18 more schools had just been enrolled to benefit from the programme and this brings the number of beneficiary schools from three to 47 schools since this government took office in 2009.**
