Two children reported drowned in Achimota

Two children got drowned at Akweteman near Achimota during the heavy rains, which hit the community on Sunday June, 24.

The name of the first victim was given as Zamrama Mallam, an eight-year boy who was said to be playing near a newly constructed drain at Akweteman Zongo when the rains started.

An eye witness who gave his name as Yaro, said the boy who might have fallen into the drain was seen struggling to free himself but the force of the flood waters prevented him from doing so.

The mother of the boy was said to have been attending an outdooring at Madina while the father had gone to work.

Unfortunately, not too much information was received on the second victim who was seen being carried away by the flood waters in the Kopevi drain another community near Achimota towards the main drain that joins the Avenor drain.**
