First Lady leaves for UNESCO conference in the US on Tuesday

The First Lady, Dr. Mrs Ernestina Naadu Mills leaves Accra on Tuesday June 26th for Maryland, USA, to attend the 2012 edition of UNESCO Youth Infusion Conference for young leaders.

The event will be hosted by the UNESCO Centre for Peace (UCP) and create the conditions for dialogue among civilisations, cultures and peoples, based upon respect for commonly shared values.

It is through this dialogue that the world can achieve global visions of sustainable development encompassing observance of human rights, mutual respect and the alleviation of poverty, all of which are at the heart of UNESCO’S mission and activities.

A statement issued by Mr. Peter Bamfo, Media Liaison, Office of the President copied to Ghana News Agency in Accra on Monday, said the First Lady would use the conference to develop a more collaborated effort to bring effective change to youth in various ways in Ghana.

She would highlight some of her efforts aimed at promoting education in Ghana especially girls.

The First Lady is expected back on Wednesday, July 4, 2012.**
