Minister calls for hard work

The Central Regional Minister, Mrs Ama Benyiwa Doe, has appealed to workers to let the government’s implementation of the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) motivate them to increase productivity.

She said hard work would enable the government to generate more revenue to invest in other sectors of the economy.

Mrs Benyiwa Doe who was addressing members of the Gomoa West District Assembly and heads of departments at Apam, as part of her one-day tour of the district said the SSSS had doubled the government’s wage bill and increased productivity would enable the government to meet the challenge.

She inaugurated three six-unit classroom blocks, a three-unit block and a Community Health and Planning Services (CHPS) Compound.

Inaugurating the school blocks at Apam Catholic Basic School, Apam Methodist Basic School, Mprumem Methodist Basic School and Gomoa Ajumako Basic School, Mrs Benyiwa Doe appealed to parents to ensure that their children benefited from the facilities being provided by the government.

“The buildings will be useless if they don’t produce very good scholars to continue with the nation’s development agenda,” the Regional Minister said.

She commended the District Chief Executive, Mr. Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, and the Assembly for doing a good work to project the government’s “Better Ghana” agenda.

Mr. Aidoo-Mensah said at the inauguration of the CHPS Compound at Gomoa Abonko that, the Assembly was renovating maternity wards at Onyadze-Jukwa, Osedze and Fomena clinics in fulfillment of a pledge made to the First Lady, Mrs Naadu Mills, during the launch of safe maternal campaign at Elmina recently.

He said the Assembly had constructed seven CHPS Compounds in three years as its commitment to improve the health of the people.

Miss Sarah Sarkwah, District Community Health Nurse, said CHPS Compounds concept was to make health service accessible to the people and commended the Assembly for its support for the programme.

Nana Nyamekye II, the Mankrado, commended the Assembly for bringing health services to the doorsteps of the people.**
