Drunk driver granted GH¢2,000 bail.

A 24 year-old driver, James Adansi, has been granted bail in the sum GH¢2,000 by the Tarkwa circuit court for drunk-driving.

He pleaded guilty and will re-appear before court on June 18.

Police Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that on May 28 at about 0700 hours, the accused was driving a Toyota Hiace vehicle with registration number GS 3168-12 and was heading towards Tarkwa from Esuoso.

He said on reaching Tarkwa Banso, the passengers in the bus realized that the accused person was driving carelessly and raised an alarm.

The Prosecutor said, Abubakar Alhassan and three other passengers arrested and brought the accused to the police station.

He said when the accused was tested on the alcohol meter at the Motor Transport and Traffic Unit (MTTU) division in Tarkwa, it recorded 0.57 which exceeded the prescribed limit of 0.08 volume.

According to the Prosecutor, after the accused misdeed was pointed out to him, he was charged with the offense.**
