People of Allowulley appeals for rehabilitation of their road

The chief and people of Allowulley, near Tikobo Number One in the Jomoro District of Western Region have appealed to the government to rehabilitate a half kilometer road linking the town to the Half Assini highway

According to them, adding the half kilometre road to the Half-Assini highway in the on-going road rehabilitation programme in the area would save resources and also help improve their standard of living.

Government had early this year awarded contract for the rehabilitation of Tikobo Number One, Beyin, Allabokazo coastal roads in Jomoro and Ellembele Districts.

Mr. Patrick Cudjoe and elder of Allowulley, made the appeal on behalf of the chief to the Western Regional Minister, Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, when he visited the town on Friday June One, 2012, as part of his working visit to the District.

He said the road formed part of Half-Assini, Beyin By-pass and nearby Ehoaka, but has been left out while work on tarring of the Ehoaka portion of the road is on-going.

The chief said, that portion is currently in very deplorable state and vehicles are no longer plying on that road and as a result, travelers from Half-Assini and Beyin areas have to go through Tikobo Number One, over one kilometre longer and at an extra cost.

The chief said if that road had been motorable, the Regional Minister and his entourage would not have gone through Tikobo Number One to the town from Half-Assini to waste their time and fuel.

He said the road lead to their bread basket and their main source of assessing drinking water as well.

The Regional Minister was in the town to commission a three unit classroom, office and store Junior High School block for the town built by the Assembly at the cost of GH¢66.788.11.
