Driver fined for careless driving

Issifu Salifu a driver, has been fined a sum of GH?300 for careless and inconsiderate driving by a Tarkwa Circuit Court.

He pleaded guilty.

Police Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that, on December 12, last year, at about 1430 hours, the accused person was driving a Mercedes Benzes 207 bus and had on board passengers from Damang heading towards Takoradi.

He said on reaching the Alimex gas filing station in Tarkwa Township, he lost control of the steer and veered off the road and run in to a stationary Isuzu pick-up vehicle.

Chief Inspector Paddy said Gladys Idun, Reverend Pius Smith Ansah and Josephine Sosu who were then passengers on board sustained injuries and they were rushed to the Tarkwa government hospital for treatment.

He said the victims were subsequently referred to the Effia-Nkwanta and Koforidua government hospitals for further treatment.

The Prosecutor said after treatment, none of the affected victims reported back to the police but after investigation the accused person was charged with the offense.**
