Falling tree kills Samartex Wood Companyâ??s worker, injures another person

Tragedy struck Samartex Wood and Lumber Company when one of its workers was killed by a falling tree, while another worker was severely injured at Bodiawu.

Mr. Samuel Danso, the Company’s Forest Manager reported the tragic incident to the Sekondi Police on Thursday.

He told the police that he went with Yaw Aboagye,35, and Patrick Cobbina,32, both workers of the company to work in Yoyo Forest, near Bodiawu in the Prestea Huni Valley District on May 11.

He said while they were working, the two were trapped by a falling tree and in the process, Aboagyie died and Cobbina was severely injured and admitted at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi.

The police confirmed the tragic incident and are conducting further investigations.**
