Kufuor wishes to establish special relations with Morocco

President of Ghana John kufuor expressed the wish to establish special relations with Morocco and to make of these relations an example to be followed by other African countries.

President Kufuor made the statement in Accra last week when he was receiving the credentials of Abdelhamid Tourougui as Morocco’s new ambassador to Ghana, a statement by the Moroccan ministry of foreign affairs and cooperation said.

The Ghanaian president said his country wishes to establish with Morocco an exemplary cooperation in the political, economic and cultural realms and to benefit from the kingdom’s experience in the sectors of air transport, fisheries and telecommunication.

He pointed out that the two countries which were behind the setting up of the Organization of African unity (OAU) have a role to play in Africa.

The Moroccan diplomat surveyed Morocco’s foreign policy that privileges inter-African cooperation and voiced the kingdom’s determination to open a new page in its relations with Ghana, with more frequent political consultations and a more ambitious economic and cultural cooperation.
