Committee to sit on persons challenged in registration exercise in Wa

The Wa Municipal Registration Review Committee (MRRC) will commence sittings on Monday, May 21, to look into cases involving people whose eligibility to register as voters was challenged in the just ended biometric registration exercise.

Mr Ali Osman, the Wa Municipal Electoral Officer who disclosed this in an interview with the GNA in Wa on Wednesday, said 33 people were challenged during the exercise whiles a total of 73,900 people were registered in the Wa Central Constituency.

Mr Osman said the figure included people who registered more than once and those that were challenged and thus may reduce when all these issues were resolved.

He said he was optimistic that despite all the challenges including the breakdown of registration kits in some polling stations, all eligible voters within the Municipality were registered.**
