“NDC does not deserve a second term” -Anthony Karbo

Mr Anthony Karbo, the National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the youth not to retain the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government in power in the December polls.

He said considering the abysmal performance of the NDC government led by President John Atta Mills since it assumed office three and half years ago, the nation would be in serious crisis if the NDC should be retained in power.

Mr Karbo therefore appealed to the youth to vote massively for the NPP and return it to power in 2012, to save Ghanaians from the economic hardship they were going through in the hands of the NDC government.

He made the call when he addressed a youth forum organized by the Eastern Regional Youth Wing of the party in Koforidua.

Mr Karbo said when the NPP was in power, a lot of interventions were introduced to better the lot of Ghanaian youth including the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), which generated a lot of employment for the youth.

He said when the NDC took over all those employees were sacked because they were perceived to be NPP supporters.

Mr Karbo said it was unfortunate that the NYEP and other interventions were not functioning well as a result of mismanagement.

He challenged the NDC government to come out and explain to Ghanaians which people benefited from the 1.7 million jobs that it claimed to have created.

The running mate of the presidential candidate of the party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, said during the eight-year rule of the NPP, Ghana saw tremendous improvement in economic growth, rule of law, good governance, the fight against corruption, poverty reduction and food security.

He said Ghana gained a lot of international respect which resulted in the country being invited to the G8 summit, adding that “it did not come as a matter of chance, but as a result of hard work under the able leadership of President John Agyekum Kufuor.”

Nana Akufo Addo on his part, assured the people that when he becomes president, he would create more jobs for the youth through private sector development and move the country from raw material production to industrialization.

He cautioned the people not to be swayed by the wild propaganda of the NDC but rather analyze issues and judge for themselves if they were better off under the NDC than the NPP.**
