Deputy Central Regional Minister, Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, has appealed to assembly members not to hesitate to approach their members of parliament (MPs) with problems they encounter when discharging their duties.
Addressing the first ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Saltpond, he urged the assembly members to see MPs as partners in development and discuss with them problems concerning the development of their electoral areas.
Mr. Quansah cautioned against assembly members indulging in partisan politics and said it could affect their work and reduce their dignity before their people.
He said the government had decided to make six Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies in the Central Region to benefit from Metro Mass Transport services and that independent committees would be formed by the Assemblies to manage the Metro Mass Transport system.
Mr. Henry Kweku Hayfron, Municipal Chief Executive, expressed concern about the rate at which indiscipline was creeping into the Municipality and said he would not exchange indiscipline with votes.
He said traders had taken over the streets, especially around the roundabout where they had displayed their wares and indicated that, a police task force would soon be formed to clamp down on such traders to prevent a mishap.**
