Politicians advised against insults and name calling

A clergyman has advised politicians in the country to stop politics of insult and name calling and concentrate on efforts that would help solve the numerous challenges facing the country.

The Chaplain of the Koforidua Diocesan Methodist Guild Ghana, Very Reverend Kobina Kakraba Obresi, who made the call, condemned actions and utterances of politicians that could divide the country and mar national development.

He observed that despite the ethnic differences in the country, the people had remained united, and called on Christians to help promote peace and stability.

Very Rev. Obresi was preaching the sermon at the national launch of the Methodist Guild Ghana Week, at the Calvary Methodist Church at Adweso near Koforidua on Sunday.

Bishop of Koforidua Diocese of the Methodist Church, Right Rev. Fredrich Nnoroh, who launched the celebration, advised the youth not to allow politicians to use them to cause trouble during the December elections.

The National President of the Guild, Mr. Godson S. Owusu-Ansah, said the funds that would be raised during the week-long celebrations would be used to develop a four-acre land acquired at Ofinso by the Guild at Ofinso, for the construction of a spiritual revival and recreational centre.

He said the Guild had also instituted a scholarship scheme, for brilliant but needy youth in the church, and has also acquired a bus for evangelism.**
