Nduom to make education free

The Flagbearer of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom has pledged to make education free and compulsory from Kindergarten to Senior High School when voted as president in Election 2012.

Addressing party rallies at Ekumfi Essuehyia and Biriwa in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region, Dr Nduom said he would expand access to education by providing more educational infrastructure and also cater for the welfare of teachers who were the pivot around which education revolved.

He said Ghanaians must have access to quality education to enable them to become good and credible leaders in future.

Dr. Nduom pledged to eliminate malaria and cholera from the society when elected.

He said such diseases have been eliminated in the USA, Britain, France and other leading countries and could be done in Ghana if attention was paid to environmental sanitation.

The PPP flagbearer expressed concern about high cost of fishing gear in the country and promised to make them affordable when elected.

He promised to provide storage facilities for fishermen to preserve their catch for sale during the lean season.

Dr Nduom expressed concern about foreigners wading into retail trading which was a preserve for Ghanaians and said a government under his leadership would not encourage the practice.**
