Use laid down procedures to resolve problems – Director

Mr Ignatius Mwinbe-Ere Der, Afigya-Kwabre District Director of Education has urged the youth to be disciplined and resort to laid down procedures to get their grievances resolved.

He said acts of vandalism, lawlessness and threats was not the way to go and must be avoided, adding, the youth should be tolerant and exercise restraint even in the face of provocation.

Mr Mwinbe-Ere Der, said these in an address to about 1,500 Dagaaba and Frafra youth at the Centre for National Culture (CNC) in Kumasi during the annual fun games of football, tug-of-war, “ludo and oware between the two ethnic groups from the Upper West and Upper East Regions.

The District Director advised the participants to channel their youthful exuberance and energies into useful ventures by exploring opportunities to improve on their socio-economic situation.

He also reminded them to cherish their cultural heritage and resist foreign cultures that tend to value violence and indecency.

Naaba Abdulai Haka Dunia and Naa Santa Franklin, Heads of Frafra and Dagaaba communities in Kumasi, respectively, took turns to counsel the youth not to engage in criminal activities.

They asked them to work hard and lead decent and peaceful lives.

Mr Joseph Atindaana Baba, a member of the Planning Committee, said the programme was to help promote and strengthen the ancestral bond between the two ethnic groups from the northern parts of the country.**
