Fathers advised to invest in the welfare of their children

Parents, particularly fathers, have been advised to invest in welfare of their children and give them proper training.

The Reverend Dr Sam Kisseadoo, President of the Faithful Ministries International, who gave the advice on Friday, expressed concern that most fathers failed to attend Parent Teacher Association meetings.

He was speaking at the dialogue session of the on-going six-day Third Ghana Policy Fair, organized by the Ministry of Information, on the theme: “Building Together in a Better Ghana”.

Dr Kisseadoo, who spoke on the topic: “A Healthy Home, a Healthy Nation, ” said the economic situation in Ghana had made it difficult for fathers to spend time with their children saying, fathers were most of the time away from the home, busily “chasing money.

The clergyman called for open, frank and fair communication methods in families to make the home a safe haven.

He asked husbands to communicate graciously and must “choose the right time, right place, right words and with the right attitude.”

Dr Kisseadoo, advised husbands to respect the opinion of their spouses, and asked men not to act like bosses or police officers at home.

The policy fair, which was dedicated to families in Ghana, saw many children with their parents at most stands and at the special park made for children to entertain themselves.

Some elated children were seen sitting and hopping in the bouncy castle.**
