Govt paid no money to STX on failed housing deal

Ghana’s Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing has said no government funds were paid to STX (E&C) Ghana Limited for the construction of the 30,000 housing units.

The Ministry said what the nation had lost was valuable time as a result of the inability of the partners to reconcile their differences and the ensuing Board room disagreements that had led to court cases.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Mr. Abraham Otabil, was reacting to comments made by Mr Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, Minority Leader in Parliament yesterday.

Mr. Otabil said “despite this initial setback, the government is determined to proceed with its agenda to provide housing for the citizens of Ghana, especially the security services.”

He said the statement issued on the matter on Wednesday April 11 by the Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing represented “the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”
