Peace and tranquility vital for the national progress – Rev Akonnor

The Reverend Alex Akonnor Ampofo, Minister in-charge of the Atimatim Presbyterian Church of Ghana in the Afigya Kwabre District, has identified peace and tranquility as vital ingredients for socio-economic development.

He has therefore appealed to Ghanaians to avoid acts likely to create animosity and stoke tension.

Rev Ampofo was delivering the sermon at an Easter service at Atimatim on the theme: “Christ, the conqueror of death has risen.”

He said the resurrection of Christ should provide hope for the nation in spite of the present economic and social difficulties.

Rev Ampofo asked Ghanaians to be dedicated and committed to the worship of God and join hands to uplift the nation.

The Rev Ampofo advised Christians to lead righteous and decent lives to become agents of change.

On the impending elections, he called on politicians to conduct their campaigns with civility to ensure the peace before, during and after the polls.**
