WASSCE begins in Cape Coast Metropolis smoothly

The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) began on a smooth note in the Cape Coast Metropolis as students of Senior High Schools wrote the English Orals on Monday morning.

The Examinations is expected to end on Thursday, May 17, 2012.

The GNA visited some of the schools in the metropolis and at the Wesley Girls’ Senior High School, the first set of candidates had finished taking their English orals as at 1000 hours, with the second batch getting ready to take their turn.

According to Mr. Gabriel Kumassah, the Assistant Headmaster of the School, all 384 registered candidates were present.

At the Adisadel College, the Supervisor, Mr. Robert Eghan, said only one candidate out of a total of 446 was absent for medical reasons.

Reverend Sister Josephine Anto, Headmistress at the Holy Child School, told the GNA that all the 265 candidates were present.

At the St. Augustine’s College, Mr. Henry Arthur Gyan, Supervisor in charge, said 417 out of the 419 registered candidates sat for the examinations with the two absentees traveling outside the country.

Headmaster of Academy of Christ the King Senior High School, Mr. Victor Mensah-Adator said all 237 registered candidates were present.

All the centers the GNA visited had security presence with enough examination materials and the supervisors said they were expecting a smooth examination throughout the period.**
