Couples in remand for baby’s death

A Tarkwa circuit court has remanded a couple, Kwabena Boateng, 21, a small scale miner, and Dorcas Addae, 19, for intentionally and unlawfully causing the death of their 15-month-old baby boy, Kwasi Dankwa.

They pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on April 4.

Prosecuting, Police Deputy Superintendent of Police Albert Adiita told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that on March 6 the accused persons claimed they attended nature’s call and took refuse to the dump.

They returned and found that the baby’s throat had been slashed with a sharp implement with the head almost severed but there was no trace of blood, suggesting that the deceased might have been killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the entrance of the room.

The accused persons reported the incident to Nana Brumia Sekereso II, chief of the town and he in turn informed the police who arrested them.**
