Educationist speaks against examination malpractices

Dr George Adjei-Hinneh, Brong Ahafo Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has urged teachers to check their students against examination malpractices.

He was addressing the staff and students of Nkoranza Senior High School (SHS) and Nkoranza Technical Institute, as part of his maiden familiarisation tour of educational institutions in the region.

The Regional Director deplored the practice by teachers who encourage their students to cheat during examinations, saying “such malpractices do not produce the right calibre of personnel the country needs in its socio-economic development process”.

Dr Adjei-Hinneh advised teachers appointed to supervise or invigilate during the impending Basic Education Certificate Examinations and the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination to ensure that the results of the examinations truly reflect the standard of education.

He advised the students to study hard to achieve good results.

Dr. Adjei-Hinneh emphasised the need for heads of second-cycle schools to strengthen science, debating and quiz clubs to raise the standard of education.

At Nkoranza Technical Institute Mr Albert Adusei, Principal, said the school, which started four years ago, is developing steadily and offering courses in wood technology, mechanical engineering technology, auto engineering technology, building technology and agricultural mechanisation technology, as well as catering.**
