We would have a strong showing in December polls – Abass

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti region has expressed optimism about the party’s chances in the region in this year’s general elections.

Mr Abass Mubarak Abass, the Asante-Akim South Constituency Organizer, said they would make a strong showing, adding that, though the region has traditionally been allied with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), he was hopeful the NDC would garner enough votes to propel it to resounding victory.

He said they were working hard to make this happen and that they are in no doubt about the fact that the party’s performance in Ashanti could prove decisive in the NDC’s re-election bid.

Mr Abass made reference to his constituency and vowed to capture the parliamentary seat that had been held by the NPP since 1996.

He called on the party’s supporters to turn out in their numbers to register in the coming biometric voter registration.**
