Nana Akufo Addo interacts with fishermen

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate for the December general election, has said that an NPP government would institute a National Fishermen’s Day to recognize their contribution towards the country’s economic growth.

He said his government would reintroduce the Ministry of Fisheries to take care of marine issues and help fishermen to acquire fishing gadgets under a special arrangement.

Nana Addo also reiterated his pledge to make Senior High School (SHS) education free to enable the youth to have access to education, particularly orphans who could not afford education because of the death of their parents and guardians.

He said the rationale for the policy was to avoid the emergence of class society because if only a few young persons could continue the academic pursuit by virtue of the wealth of their parents or guardians then those who could not continue would become a liability on the society.

He also educated the gathering on the biometric voters registration exercise and urged them to vote for him and Mrs Mavis Hawa Koomson, NPP parliamentary candidate for Awutu Senya Constituency in the December polls.

The common plea from the fishermen were high cost of out-board motors, construction of landing sites and checking of trawlers which are destroying their fishing nets.

They said if voted to power, Nana Addo should help them get premix fuel on regular basis.
