Leadership of BHOBU and POGA apologise over incident at OLA

There is calm at the OLA Girls Senior High School in Ho following an incident at the school over an unauthorized programme at the weekend

The incident was between the authorities of the School, the Bishop Herman Old Boys Union (BHOBU) and the Past OLA Girls Association (POGA).

Mrs Benedicta Afesi Headmistress of the School told the Ghana News Agency that the issue had been thrashed out and the leaders of BHOBU and POGA had apologized to the School authorities.

They have also met the students to explain to them that they had not sought permission for the programme and therefore had no cause to protest the Headmistress’s action.

Students of the School were said to have chased their Headmistress out of the School with stones but she had since returned to duty.

Speaking to the GNA on telephone, Mrs Afesi said she indeed stopped a supposed homecoming event by the BHOBU and POGA members.

She said her action infuriated the BHOBU and POGA members and they behaved rudely to her even after she had explained to them that such unplanned programmes did not conform to the tradition of the school.

Mrs Afesi said later after her explanations when she was driving out they started throwing stones at her vehicle and had to retreat.

Municipal Police sources told the GNA that the incident had not been reported to them. **
