CHRAJ Tells Police Not To Violate Human Rights

Achimota (GAR), June 27, — Senior Police personnel have been called upon to ensure that their subordinates do not violate fundamental rights of indivviduals. Making the call today, Mr. Emile Short, Chairman of the commission for human rights and administrative justice, (CHRAJ) at a seminar for senior police officers said this is necessary because th The seminar with the theme “The Police in the New Constitutional Dispensation” is being organised jointly by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and the Konrad Adaneur Foundatio Mr Short said his call should be taken seriously since Ghana is held in a high esteem all over the world He said if they violate the rights of others, aggrieved persons could take the violators to court for compensation. “No matter what a person’s crime, the law does not permit you to subject him or her to cruelty or heavy slaps to extract information”.
