Two fine 720 cedis for stealing

A Tarkwa circuit court has fined Evans Owusu 27, unemployed and Emmanuel Sarfo 17, a student , 360 Ghana cedis each or in default 3 years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing three hydro gear pumps, three motor and two scrap metal valued 6,282.96 Ghana cedis.

Both pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting Police Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Ampomsah told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the complainants are security officers of Aboso Gold Limited (AGL), Damang mine.

Inspector Amponsah said on January 29 the two were spotted stealing the items and were about to carry them over a wire mesh fence at the Kosovo salvage yard, a restricted area in the (AGL,) Damang mine.

He said the security men arrested the convicts and handed them over to the police.
