Former Miss Ghana Promises: NPP Will Be Routed In Election 2012

Parliamentary candidate for the Ledzokuku ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Mrs. Benita Sena Okity-Dua, has promised President Mills, that the opposition New Patriotic Party will be routed in the 2012 elections to hand the NDC flawless victory on the way to a re-election.

Mrs. Okity-Dua, who resigned her position as the Ledzokuku NDC’s Women’s Organizer to challenge incumbent MP, Nii Nortey-Dua, for the party’s Parliamentary ticket confidently predicted that the NPP’s candidate will be routed by a margin two times what she was beaten with in the 2008 elections.

In the 2008 elections, Dr. Gladys Norley Ashietey of the New Patriotic Party, who was then the incumbent MP, was defeated by the NDC’s Nii Nortey-Dua by a margin of over 11,000 votes. “I want to promise the President that I will double this margin 2012,” Mrs. Okity-Dua told journalists after she had come out victorious in the NDC’s Parliamentary primary in Ledzokuku.

A combination of hard work, eloquence, beauty and a grassroots connection has meant that the young former Ledzokuku NDC Women’s Organizer is a very winsome candidate.

In the NDC’s Parliamentary Primary for Ledzokuku, Mrs. Okity-Dua, who is also memorable for her crowning as Miss Ghana 1997, defeated the incumbent, Hon. Reuben Nii Nortey-Dua by a wide margin.

Out of a total of 406 votes cast, she won 242 votes go give her easy victory over Nii Nortey-Dua, who attracted 148 votes.
