Family of late Dr Turkson officially informs President of his death

Accra, Jan 19, GNA – President John Evans Atta Mills on Thursday paid tribute to the late Dr Dr Richard Turkson, until recently Ghana’s High Commissioner in Ottawa, Canada and described him as a great Ghanaian.

He said Ghana had lost a diplomat, a great civil servant, an academic, adding that he was “a brother and a friend” whose death had created a vacuum that would be difficult to be filled.

President Mills paid the tribute when a delegation from the Ekumfi Royal Clan, led by Prof Jerry Blankson, formerly of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science Technology, paid a courtesy call on him at the Osu Castle in Accra to formally announce the death of the late High Commissioner.
