Mafi-Dedukope Initiate Dev elopment Projects

Mafi-Dedukope (V/R), June 25, – The people of Mafi-Dedukope in the North Tongu district of the Volta region have initiated a number of development projects. The projects which include a primary school block, health post, kvip and potable water would cost them about 30 million cedis. Mr James Agornyrah, Chairman of the Mafi-Dedukope Area Youth Association who disclosed this to newsmen at Dedukope at the weekend, said the projects would be undertaken with local materials. On financing, Mr. Agornyrah said development levies have been instituted for both resident and non-resident citizens of the town, adding that those at home are contributing a flat levy of 5,000 cedis while their non-resident counterparts are paying 10,000 cedis. He said an initial 25 bags of cement have been procured with proceeds from a fund-raising harvest organized by the association to start with the construction of the primary school. Mr. Godwin Nelson Losu, secretary of the association, appealed to the district assembly and non-governmental organizations to offer both financial and material assistance to the people to ensure the early completion of the projects.
