President’s Response To Rumour-Mongers: “This Is Atta Mills Live”

President Mills has arrived home from his annual leave and has taken a dig at rumour-mongers who he said peddled falsehood that he went to Cuba to seek medical attention.

Addressing a large crowd of supporters and government officials at the Kotoka International Airport on his arrival in the country on Saturday from the United States, President Mills derided the rumours and explained that he still worked on the quiet, even on holidays, brokering catalytic deals to accelerate the national development agenda.

Reports were rife in media circles that President Mills had gone to Cuba to seek medical attention.

However, moments after arriving in Ghana President Mills refuted the claims.

“I would like to visit Cuba but this time I was not in Cuba. I think that some people have very fertile imagination; they should use it for the benefit of the country…I think that they did me a favour by talking about things which were not true. I was not perturbed at all. Now they are seeing me here…This is Atta Mills live,” provoking a sudden burst of laughter from the gathering.

Prior to his leave, President Mills had been on a working visit to Canada, where he brokered a number of investment deals and spoke with members of the Canadian Parliament who assured Ghana help in her 2012 general elections.

The Canadian Commercial Corporation also renewed a number of investment commitments to Ghana.

Back in the US, before he began his leave, the South-South News, a digital platform awarded him several prizes for the success of economic reforms back at home and improvement in the education sector.

President Mills also met with UN Secretary Ban Ki-Moon on a wide range of issues on Ghana and the African Continent.
