Suspect feigns madness in court to escape justice

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Dec. 14, GNA – Amadu Ouatara, a suspect who feigned madness in an attempt to win the sympathy of the Dormaa Circuit Court while standing trial for attempted theft has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.

This followed his trial by the court after his alleged ‘non compos mentis’ claim was disproved in a medical examination ordered by the court.

The medical examination declared that the accused did not suffer any acute mental disorder and was therefore fit to be taken through the trial.

Ouatara was tried for attempting to steal a Yamaha motorcycle at Treff Two Bar, a popular drinking spot at Dormaa-Ahenkro in the Brong Ahafo Region.
