Nsawam Secondary celebrates 20th anniversary

Nsawam (E/R), Dec. 03, GNA – Mr Thomas Lartey, Headmaster of Nsawam Secondary School (NSASCO), has urged parents and guardians to enroll their wards into educational institutions in order for them to become useful citizens.

Mr Lartey made this call at the 20th anniversary celebration of the Nsawam Secondary School on Saturday at Nsawam.

The event was organized under the theme, “the role of stakeholders in educational development”.

Mr Lartey said the student population at 678, with 352 boys and 326 girls whiles teaching staff number stands at 36, the school offers agriculture, visual arts, home economics, general arts and would soon start a business programme.

Mr Lartey said the school has made some significant progress on the WAEC, SSSC/WASSCE results adding that there has been some percentage increases which started from 98.2 per cent in 2007, 98.9 per cent in 2008, 100 per cent in 2009 and another 100 per cent in 2010.

He appealed to the regional and municipal directors of education and Akuapem South Municipal Assembly to assists in the rehabilitation of the school buildings and also help provide staff accommodation.

He commended the government and the Akuapem South Assembly for locating a new site at Okobeyeyie near Ahodjo on Nsawam-Aburi Road for the construction of a new school block.

Mr Omar Amadu Dabou, Municipal Coordinating Director of Akuapem South Assembly on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, said the role of the government was to create a conducive environment for the smooth operation of educational enterprises and this includes creating the appropriate policies, providing necessary logistics, human resources, financial support and accommodation.
