Aggressive measures for increased women representation – FOSDA

Tamale (N/R), Dec 2, GNA – Ms Afi Yakubu, Executive Director of the Foundation for Security and Development (FOSDA), an NGO, has called for a more aggressive and proactive measure to increase the representation and inclusion of women in governance and other positions of decision making .

She said this was important to ensure equal representation and participation which would give true meaning to the country’s democratic dispensation since majority of her citizens were females.

She,, howeve, acknowledged that this called for more resources to empower women to be able to equally rub shoulders with men in all fields of endeavour.

Ms Yakubu was speaking on Thursday at the end of a two-day training workshop organized by FOSDA in Tamale for District Chief Executives (DCEs), gender desk officers, assembly members and women empowerment advo’
