NDC Is A “Disgraceful Chamber Pot” – Sir John

General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, has launched a rather vile attack on the personality of the Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, describing him as an “imprisoned Kweku Ananse” for allegedly kowtowing to the whims and caprices of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC); a party he christens as a “disgraceful chamber pot”.

He has therefore warned that though the EC Boss had been made a “referee” by the NDC to oversee the outcome of the 2012 elections, the NPP will only succumb to the will of the Ghanaian voter.

“If the NDC wants to taste where true power lies, then they should try us (NPP) by forgoing the verification process,” he threatened.

Speaking on Tema-based AdomFM a few days before the Finance Minister announced the 2012 Budget, Sir John, as the NPP Chief Scribe is affectionately called, claimed that Dr. Afari-Gyan has abandoned his official electoral duties, divested himself off his cloak of neutrality and has reportedly joined the NDC’s band wagon.

To him, the Chairman of the EC is nothing short of “imprisoned Kweku Ananse” who changes political colour whenever he foresees the administration of party in power about to come to an end.

“You (Afari-Gyan) have conducted and overseen electoral processes for a very long time and built up quite an impressive reputation so this is the time to prove your experience. Instead, you are rather backing the NDC, heeding to their beck and call because they have made you a referee to determine the outcome of the elections,” he said.
