Ayariga wins Bawku Central primary

Bawku, Nov. 21, GNA – Mr Mahama Ayariga, a Deputy Minister of Education has won the Bawku Central primary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with 319 votes.

His contender, Mr Issahaku Bukari and polled 97 votes in the election conducted at the weekend.

At Binduri, Mr Noah Azure carried the day with 92 votes. His contestants: Mr Stephen Atugiba had 90 votes; Dr Robert Akuganb Alem – 69, Mr Richard Akumbas -31; and Mr Daniel Adoliba 7.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Abduliah Musah, asked the candidates not to see their defeat as a failure but to should join hands with the winner to take the parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said the victory was a major sign of victory in the 2012 national elections.

The MCE commended the party supporters for their support and appealed to all to rally behind the winner for development in the area.

The NDC held primary elections on Saturday for constituencies where it has no parliamentary seats.
