Seminar on proper use of Partograph organised

Accra , Nov. 10, GNA – Stakeholders at a seminar on Maternal Deaths have called on the Nurses and Midwives Council to re-consider replacing the existing Partograph which had been in existence in Ghana since 1989 with a new version.

They argued that the Partograph fell short of important details such as the Latent Phase in the labour process, which was a critical period for the safety of both mother and infant.

Mrs Juliana D. Darkwah, Executive Secretary of Nana Yaa Memorial Trust, a pro maternal health NGO, said there was the need for close monitoring and documentation of the Latent Phase of patients during labour, in order to eliminate avoidable complications that were likely to occur during labour.
