Karaga, (N/R), Oct. 27, GNA – The Karaga District Assembly scored eighty-three points in the Functional Organisational Assessment Tool, (FOAT) exercise carried out in 2009. The FOAT exercise is a tool used to assess the performance of District Assemblies in the country. Mr Sulemana Issah Hussein, District Chief Executive (DCE) disclosed this at the second ordinary meeting of the Assembly in Karaga on Tuesday. He commended the staff and the assembly members for making that feat possible and said this had made it possible for the Assembly to receive an unprecedented flow of funds and, therefore, urged them to rise to the occasion again as another team would be coming to assess the assembly for the exercise for the year 2010. The DCE announced that the assembly had completed preparing the composite budget for the 2012 and had submitted it to the Regional Coordinating Council, (RCC) for its input. He said under the new composite budgeting system no expenditure could be made if any particular item or activity was not captured in the budget. on the Ghana School Feeding Programme, Mr Hussein said 17 schools in the district were now benefiting from the programme and that the Assembly had employed caterers for the various schools. The DCE announced that the Tamalgu-Zankali,Pishigu-Dodogi and Pishigu-Nyong feeder roads would soon be tackled with the support of some development partners. He also announced the completion of some development projects which include a three-unit semi detached teachers quarters in Karaga, renovation of the assembly=E2=80=99s quest house and a one-unit semi-detached quarters in the district capital.
Mr Hussein Haruna, Presiding Member of the Assembly urged the Government to pay more attention to the road network in the District since that sector was impeding the area’s rapid development. He also appealed to the DCE and the Coordinating Director of the Assembly to inform the assembly member of the relevant electoral area when any contract was awarded in their areas to enable them to monitor the progress of work.
