Ex-employees petitions CEO of Ghana Chamber of Mines

Tarkwa, Oct, 25, GNA – Five hundred and ninety-one former employees of Goldfields Ghana Limited has appealed to Mr. Tony Obeng, the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana Chamber of Mines, to ensure that the company pays salary arrears due them.

A petition signed by Mr. William Atinkah, leader of the group, copied to GNA at Tarkwa on Tuesday, said the former employees during their service to the company they requested for salary increment after three years of service without salary adjustment.

It said: “The company informed the ex-employees that due to the fall in gold price at the world market, management needed to suspend operations, and the company gave some money to the workers and promised to re-engage them when the price of gold increase.”
