Ouattara lays wreath at Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum

Accra, Oct. 6, GNA – President Alassane Ouattara of Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday laid a wreath at the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum in Accra and eulogized Ghana’s first President for his role in the birth of the Organisation of African Unity, now the African Union and integration of the African people.

The Ivorian President, who is on a day’s official visit to Ghana, made the commendation when he signed a visitors’ book after laying a wreath at the tomb the late President.

He praised Dr Nkrumah for his efforts, together with those of other leaders, including late Ivorian President Felix Houphouet-Boigny.

President Ouattara said it was only through integration, which was the vision of the founding fathers, that Africa could realise its political, economic and social aspirations.

He was taken round the Mausoleum by the Minister of Chieftaincy and Culture, Mr Alex Asum-Ahenan.

During President Ouattara’s visit, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire would sign an agreement with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) relating to Ivorian refugees in Ghana.

He will also hold bilateral talks with President John Mills who welcomed him on arrival earlier in the day.
