52 persons to be awarded at National Best Teacher Awards ceremony

Sekondi, Sept. 25 GNA – Fifty-two persons would be presented with awards at the 2011 National Best Teachers Awards ceremony that would be held in Takoradi on October 5.

Madam Emelia Arthur, Deputy Western Regional Minister, announced this at the weekend at a soiree organised by the Regional Best Teacher Awards Committee for journalists in Sekondi.

Madam Arthur who is the chairperson of the committee said eight of the awardees are from the region.

She said the first prize is a house, the second, a double cabin pick-up and the third prize, a saloon car.

Madam Arthur said 46 per cent of the pupils who sat the Basic Education Certificate Examination in the region in 2011, failed and the story is not different in other parts of the country.

Teachers, she said, should be motivated to give their best to produce skilled and competent future leaders.
